Mark Thompson is Chief Executive and editor-in-chief of the BBC, appointed by the BBC Trust.
BBC Direction Group (BDG) is responsible for managing pan-BBC issues delegated to it from the Executive Board and ensuring that the organisation meets its pan-BBC objectives. BDG meetings take place three times a month.
