Rip It Up & Start Again by Simon Reynolds Simon Reynolds - Rip It Up & Start Again: Postpunk 1978-1984

Punk revitalized rock in the mid-seventies, but the movement soon degenerated into self-parody.
Rip It Up & Start Again is the first book-length celebration of what happened next: post-punk bands who dedicated themselves to fulfilling punk's unfinished musical revolution.

This is one of my favourite books on one of my favourite eras in music. Not only did it get me to listen to some really great music I would have never considered listening to before, it also reminded me of some records that I had listened to in my youth, but that had been lying dormant and long forgotten, just waiting for someone like Mr Reynolds to remind me again just how brilliant it all was. Thank you Simon Reynolds!
