The Agenda
Your Oasis Memories

From the birth of Britpop to their groove based reinvention in the form of new single The Shock Of The Lightning few bands have grabbed British music by the throat, wrestled it to the floor and dominated it like Oasis.
Oasis
This week we want your memories of one of the nation's most loved bands. Whether it's a chance encounter in a supermarket akin to the tale Noel recalled on Breakfast on Friday, your journey to Knebworth in 96 or simply the first time you heard them.

To be honest Noel's entire interview with Shaun, and ensuring argument about cream crackers with George Lamb, is probably already on many people's lists.

From your favourite tune to your favourite Gallagher quote have your say below and then tune in to The Music Week on Sunday as Noel tells us exclusively about the making of the new Oasis album, Dig Out Your Soul.

The whole crowd at the SECC in 2005 singing along to Let There Be Love (which was playing on the PA) while leaving the the venue after the gig had finished, it was a nice moment.

Danny, Dundee
My mate falling asleep whilst watching them at Hampden in 2004. True story.

Sorry never got in to Oasis. Loved some of the early songs but not so much as to become a fan. Back in the 90's everyone loved them a little too much. Uber fans started coming out of the wood work which always sets off alarm bells! People had the tshirt, the hat, the luchbox...... Not me which didn't go down to well. I can remember an old girlfriend playing my 7" of wonderwall over and over at a party. People were singing!! So I started scratching. Lead balloon. Anyway Blur were and are better.

I took my 16 and 17 year old kids to see Oasis in Brussels on January 13th, I had been succesful in brainwashing them into liking them. Oh my god I,ve been to literally hundreds of gigs seen the pistols, patti smith, joy division U2 early on you name them I've seen them just about but nothing, nothing came close to this apart from Ian Brown in Brussels also but at another venue. They were truly amazing. As a result of that gig my kids now thionk they are the greatest band in the world and I'm glad, they dug out our souls alright

My high point was Be Here Now, totally underrated record. The media destroyed them after that with their hankering for dance-based rock. Forgetting that there has to be a good song to go with the knob twiddling. 'Dig Out Your Soul' is a true return to form. Also worth checking out the b-sides from the SOTSOG era, far superior to the album.

Great Band - Soundtrack to my Youth. Thanks!

Depressed by the decline of 6
They are still utter garbage - Oasis week on 6Music was an insult to your listeners. Pension them off please.

Simon, Manchester
Being a Man City Fan and having a band stick up for your football club in the hieght of Brit Pop was brilliant. The first two albulms caught the mood of the time and I was lucky enough to see them at the Hacienda and at Wulfham Hall and The Acadamy with back satge passes in the space of three months. In '95 I was even luclier when I magnaged to managed a back stage pass for Glastonbury and spent a lot of the day with their brother Paul and their that time friend Robbie Williams.

Peter - Stroud
Dreary and derivative and that was before the new album. Lowest common denominator prole feed rubbish = and as for 6 music's Oasis Week - WHY$?

Sarah, East Anglia
They had two amazing albums in the 90s, but now they suck and all their songs sound the same.

James , Belfast
I was just getting into music listening to the obligatry Now 23's etc and remember hearing Wonderwall & Don't look back in anger and being really taken by their sound and Liams voice in particular. I backtracked and got Definately maybe shortly after and was fascinated by the quality of the b sides on all the singles, happy times :) Remain a big fan & eternally greatful for the wealth of great music that they got me into (Beatles, Weller, Smiths, Roses etc). Great Live Band

Best Oasis memory: heckling Noel during his acoustic gig the day Westlife beat them to number one in the album charts. Noel replied something typically witty and ascerbic. Naturally, I bragged about my 'conversation' with Noel Gallagher for weeks....

Bill Indianapolis
I can totally remember the first time I heard Oasis. I was eleven years old and living in the Bronx at this time. I heard Wonderwall and was blown away. During the ensuing years they became my favorite band and exposed me to a wealth of music that I would of simply ignored in my fathers lp collection. such as the kinks, t.rex, and love.
