It was decided at the Digital Britain report in June that the regulator Ofcom will be given the powers to step in and force the ISP’s to block accounts or cap broadband speeds, if getting tougher with persistent pirates is not effective enough. But in a letter to the Liberal Democrat’s culture spokesman, Don Foster, the recently appointed culture secretary Ben Bradshaw has delayed the timescale until obligations on the ISP’s take effect. Bradshaw said that while he’s aware of calls for swifter action they need to "remain realistic". A DCMS spokesman responded: "As the Secretary of State's letter made clear it now makes sense to measure the effectiveness of the DB proposals from the date the obligations on ISPs start to take effect." It kicks off at the Leeds Academy on 29 November and winds up at the Bournemouth Opera House, two weeks later (10 December). The jaunt will take in two dates at London’s Brixton Academy (30 Nov, 1 Dec) and reach Newcastle, Glasgow, Manchester and Birmingham. Tickets go on sale on Friday 10 July at 9am GMT.
