A collection of songs from Manchester bands including Noel Gallagher, Elbow, I Am Kloot and Everything Everything has been put together on a double compilation album to raise money and awareness for a key charity.

Hacienda DJ Dave Haslam has compiled the tracks on the album, which is being released in aid of CALM – the Campaign Against Living Miserably.

CALM aim to support those suffering from mental illness or depression. 31 tracks have been donated by different Manchester bands and these include brand new covers, live versions of tracks from the artists' back catalogue and brand new songs, recorded especially for this project.

The album is called Thirty One and it is being on the Factory Foundation label - a label set up by Tony Wilson.

Thirty One was made available for pre-order this week but will be out in March Bad Lieutenant, Barry Adamson from Magazine and Jez Kerr from A Certain Ratio also feature on the record alongside some new and up and coming artists.

Noel Gallagher has donated a special version of his song, Let The Lord Shine A Light On Me

So Elizabeth Alker went to the album launch in Manchester this week to speak to some of the artists involved.
