Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore has spoken of his disappointment not to be asked to play the Royal Wedding which took place in April.

Speaking as he releases his new solo album, Demolished Thoughts, Moore said he even emailed  William to see if he could play. "I am sure his inbox is a little busy," he joked.

"I like Harry, Harry is the punk of the family, I was trying to see if Harry would play second guitar on some of my recordings," he continued.

Moore's album was produced by his long time alt-rock friend, Beck Hansen and was made in Beck's home studio in Los Angeles.

It's his first fully acoustic album and will lead to Thurston playing live at the Union Chapel in London on Tuesday the 31 May.

6 Music's Elizabeth Alker spoke to him this weekend, while he was on his way to a show in New York.
