Friendly Fires have confirmed that their sophomore album, due out in the spring, will be named Pala.
"It sounds a lot more pretentious than it actually is," Ed Macfarlane told Steve Lamacq.
"It's named after an island in an Aldous Huxley novel….on the island there are these parrots that are trained to whisper uplifting messages to the people on the island," he said.
Macfarlane also claimed that the record, unlike their Mercury Prize nominated first, will be about "enjoying the here and now."

"sophomore album" - why? This isn't Glee. Can't we call it second or follow up to their Mercury Prize nominated debut?
