Elbow's new album will be called Build A Rocket, Boys, Guy Garvey has revealed.

The singer made the announcement during Marc Riley's Christmas show on Tuesday night (21 December).

Garvey admitted he'd needed "a few weeks off" his own 6 Music show to complete work on the album, which is the follow-up to the Brit and Mercury Award-winning Seldom Seen Kid.

"I didn't know whether it was good or not for a couple of weeks," he said, "but I'm very happy with it now."

The album, Elbow's fifth, will be released on 7 March, 2011 - just in time for the band's UK arena tour.

Speaking to 6 Music News as recording reached its final stages in September, Garvey said the new material had been designed with large venues in mind.

"It's impossible not to consider where you're going to play your music live when you write it," he said, "but it's been that way for a long time. We very arrogantly assumed we were going to be playing arenas very early on."

The frontman also said the album had been informed by the birth of bassist Pete Turner's daughter. Alternative titles included Matha May Turner, Welcome To The World and Lippy Kids.

You can listen to that interview below. Marc Riley's Christmas Midwinter Warmer Celebratory Christmas Carol Concert is available on the BBC iPlayer for the next seven days.
