Vampire Weekend, having just recently closed the final day of Latitude Festival, have confirmed to 6 Music that they are now working on the next album, the follow up to 2010's Contra.

Currently the New York band are concentrating on where they will record it. "We don't want to wait forever, it's exciting, so we have thought speculatively and are thinking where we could record," said lead singer Ezra.

He continued: "I have just started watching the new TV show True Blood, (American television drama) so maybe we'll go down to Louisiana and record it all there."

The V-dubs, who announced their first big UK tour last week claim they are entering a new phase and fresh material will be showcased after their current run of gigs.

Drummer Chris says the mood in the camp is one of excitement now as they focus on new material.

"We are going to have a new set, new songs for the Fall,  so hopefully people will be excited," he said.

Ezra added: "it's kind of like our farewell tour, so after this tour it will be a new era for us."
