Thom Yorke's solo project Eraser – featuring Flea and Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich, among others – are set to play at this year's Coachella Festival in California this April.
Confirmation comes after the frontman hinted to Gilles Peterson on Radio 1 that he would be performing again at the bash "soon, probably".
The sonic adventurer suggested there are more gigs on the horizon for the group, who have only played a handful of shows: “The Eraser Band that I got together, we’re going to do something, hopefully in April. Just small gigs, and then maybe that’s going to lead somewhere as well - there’s lots of stuff going on.”
Yorke explained he's a big admirer of venues in California: “I like the open air venues, the hot ones - the warm hot places I like very much. There are loads around Santa Barbara that are really nice.”
It's a stellar line-up at this year's event, from 16-18 April, with headliners Jay Z, Muse and Gorillaz.
The likes of Them Crooked Vultures, Grizzly Bear, The Specials, Fever Ray, The Dead Weather, Hot Chip, LCD Soundsystem, Pavement and Vampire Weekend are also on the bill. (See full line-up).
Keeping up with Radiohead
While he‘s busy pursuing his side project, Yorke revealed Radiohead are still hard at work in the studio: “There’s a lot that’s underway at the moment. My trouble is trying to keep up, but I prefer it that way.”
He also said touring with Radiohead poses a something of a dilemma for him: “It’s tough with families and it’s difficult to make the decision to keep travelling; it’s a big commitment.
“I don’t like flying for a million different reasons, but obviously I’d love to go and play lots of different places.”
Thom hits the decks
Yorke revealed he’s trying to develop a newfound love – DJ’ing. The singer admits he's still honing his craft: “I’m not particularly professional. If you get two tunes that run together at the same speed it’s a bonus.
“It’d be a tragedy if I advertised, because it would be such a disappointment.”
Listen again to the whole interview from Gilles Peterson's show on Radio 1, aired Wednesday January 20 from 2am.
