This year’s BRIT nominations have been revealed with a quartet of ladies, Florence and the Machine, Lily Allen, Lady Gaga and Pixie Lott leading the way with three nods each.
JLS are also up for three, with Robbie Williams up for two, plus a third as part of Take That.
Close behind is Dizzee Rascal, Animal Collective, La Roux and Friendly Fires, who are also in the running for two awards each.
The launch took place at the Indig02 (18 Jan) with performances from In For The Kill singer La Roux, Pixie Lott and BBC Sound of 2010 and Critics’ Choice winner, Ellie Goulding.
Pop newcomer Pixie is nominated in the three categories, British Female Solo Artist, British Breakthrough Act and British Single.
While it's the first time she's been nominated, it's not the first time Pixie has attended the industry event.
"I went to the BRITs last year and the year before," she told 6 Music on the red carpet. "The first year I went I went with my school year because they invite stage schools down to fill out the crowd a bit, so we was all bein’ a bit rowdy and it was really fun.
"I had no idea the next year I would be sitting at the tables at the top, so that was really weird, and now I’ve gone from that to performing at the launch."
Established bands Muse and Doves are included in the British Group category, with Animal Collective up for International Album, battling it out with Empire of the Sun, Taylor Swift, Daniel Merriweather and Lady Gaga for International Breakthrough Act.
Meanwhile, New Zealand's Ladyhawke will compete with big name stars Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Shakira and Norah Jones for best International Female Solo Artist.
30 years of the BRITs in 2010 is being celebrated with an awards ceremony on Tuesday 16 February at Earl’s Court in London.
As previously announced, former Take That member Robbie Williams will take home the Lifetime Achievement award.
The bash will be aired on ITV1 at 8pm on the night, with a BRITs backstage show broadcast on ITV2 at 10.35pm on 19 February.

I heartily agree with Jon in theory. Radiohead are above the Brits, they are hardly the most respected accolade in music circles. I think for the best album of the past 30 years, it has to have won best album already at the Brits to be a nominee and then the 10 who sold the most make up the list. Obviously Rockferry will dictate the list isn't based on quality

Radiohead ignored again I see - surely they deserve a BRIT for outstanding contribution to Music. Not only have they been around for ages and influenced bands like Muse and Coldplay but they're also big globally - especially in the US.Also, why no OK Computer in BRITS Album of 30 Years? Sade and Duffy? Someone's having a laugh
