The premier of the new film Blur: No Distance Left to Run premiered in the capital last night with all the members of the band in attendance.

In the documentary Albarn admits for the first time that they were involved with the heroin scene during the peak of their fame.

The 41-year-old frontman even went as far as revealing that the band's 1997 hit Beetlebum was about the Class A drug, and suggested he was personally moved by the effects of it:

"That whole period of a lot of people's lives was fairly muddied by heroin. It's in that place. A lot of stuff was at that time," he said.

"It's powerful, just seeing those faces in the audiences."

Speaking to 6 music on the red carpet Damon admitted it was hard to be filmed so closely for the documentary:

"I was really concerned about that, at one point I said I don’t want you around anymore, but I have to say they did a really good job.

I was really sceptical, when I saw it about two months ago and I had to concede that is was really good."

Blur bassist Alex James echoed those comments:

"It's powerful, just seeing those faces in the audience, we needed to get back together emotionally for us, but it's surprising that other people needed it emotionally as well."

No Distance Left To Run, which tells Blur's story through the words of members Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree, is due for general release next week.
