Ross Millard from The Futureheads has been speaking to 6 Music about drummer Dave Hyde’s "very, very different" side-project.
It's been a busy year for Hyde because not only was he the first band member to have a child, but in the midst of making the groups fourth offering he's also been working on his own album.
Millard revealed a record will be released on The Futureheads’ own independent label, Nul Records, which they set up in 2006 to release their third album This Is Not The World.
"They go by the name of Hyde and Beast," he said of their alias, laughingly adding, "Because he is David Hyde, and the guy who he made the record with is the guy from a band called The Golden Virgins, Neil Basset, who is a big beast."
"He is the world's biggest fan of The Band and The Velvet Underground and a lot of 60s and 70s quirky, almost carnival-esque music."

As for its influences, Millard said fans should not group it with The Futureheads’ sound.
"Man it’s great," he exclaimed. "It’s so good because basically a lot of the stuff that Dave listens to, or loves, or really references is not what people would associate with The Futureheads.
"He is the world’s biggest fan of The Band and The Velvet Underground and a lot of 60s and 70s quirky, almost carnival-esque music and I think that’s what the recordings sound like."
However, while it might be a contrast, Hyde’s bandmates seem to be embracing his side-project.
"Because it is him and it’s got his voice on it and it’s practically all his playing, it’s part of the family now and will be released as such," said Millard.
