Arctic Monkeys hide two 'golden' festival tickets in their new single sleeve
14 August 2009 - Fans purchasing Arctic Monkeys’ new single will be in with the chance to see them headline the Reading and Leeds festivals.

The Sheffield rockers are releasing approximately 10,000 limited edition copies of Crying Lightning, from their new album Humbug, through 700 Oxfam charity shops around the UK on Monday 17 August.

Two lucky winners will receive a code in their copy of the single.  One will win a pair of tickets for Reading and the other a pair for Leeds.

Both events also include performances from Oxford giants Radiohead and Nashville’s finest Kings Of Leon.

Proceeds of the 7", priced at £2.99, will aid the charity’s work around the world and in addition, there will be 40 copies signed by all four band members.

The charity sells around £6 million of music every year, enough to fund its entire programme in Indonesia for a year, buy 187,000 emergency shelters, or provide safe water for eight million people.

Oxfam’s PR manager Stuart Fowkes had another call to fans intending to buy the single.

"It’s a really good opportunity to have a musical clear out, so before you head down to your local Oxfam shop on Monday to buy the single, have a root through your records," he told 6 Music News.

"See if there are any old albums you are embarrassed about still owning, if there are any festival t-shirts you brought in a haze by mistake and bring them along and donate them to the shop. We can use that to make money to change people’s lives."
