Roots Maccabees Manuva
Hip-hop legend and popular indie quintet want to join forces
01 July 2009 - Back in March, The Maccabees guitarist Felix White told 6 Music that he would love to collaborate with Roots Manuva (read more) and it seems the wheels are now in motion.White mentioned at Glastonbury a meeting with one of his hip-hop heroes could be on the cards.
But when we asked fellow South Londoner Roots Manuva about it on Saturday night (27 June), he said they hadn't managed to hook it up yet.
"Come round on Monday or Tuesday and let's get this going. Maccabees and Rooty-toot manoeuvres."

"I didn't manage to get any signal," revealed Rodney Smith, "but yeah, Felix, if we don’t meet up by today come round on Monday or Tuesday and let’s get this going.
"Maccabees and Rooty-toot manoeuvres."
Some might see it as an unusual musical partnership, but Smith told us why it will work.
"The song value and just the drastic-ness of what they do is really similar," he explained. "It's right up my street you know. We’re perfect bedfellows. For want of a better phrase, sonic bedfellows.
"Rock is more than just rock 'n' roll. Rock is a child of jazz and hip-hop is a child of rock 'n' roll so it's all one big extension of sonic fun and frivolous-ness."
