Khan's howling opener
Bat For Lashes lets 6 Music in on her wolf-themed plans for Glastonbury
24 June 2009 - Bat For Lashes mastermind Natasha Khan has been speaking to us ahead of her Other Stage performance on Sunday (28 June).(BBC Glastonbury coverage)
She’s among a stellar line-up of artists, Bon Iver, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Glasvegas, which precede a headline show from established dance act The Prodigy.
As for whether she’s feeling pre-festival nerves, Khan responded: “If there’s lots of people there I think I will be nervous, but it’s always really exhilarating playing in front of lots of people and a festival atmosphere is always different to your own shows.
“They’re quite jubilant and hopefully it will be good fun.”
Khan is renowned for her live shows and creative outfits. We asked if she has any special plans for Glastonbury.
"I'm going to make them all dress up as my wolf cubs and howl at the moon before we start."

“It’s just us, but I think it’s going to be big enough,” she explained. “We’ve got some new backdrops that are wolf-themed and nice costumes and stuff so I think it’s going to be good.”
She revealed she has a costume in mind for her backing band: “I’m going to make them all dress up as my wolf cubs and howl at the moon before we start.”
Bat For Lashes’ performance follows Bon Iver and is before Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
“My show encompasses quite beat-ey, dance style, big-sounding songs and then some really sparce, intimate, childlike music too.
“I think that’s gonna be good because it’s like half and half of each, so it’s a nice bridge,” she said of being sandwiched between the folk singer and Karen O’s rock outfit.
“I think they’ve done a good job there with that choice, you do experience the highs and lows with this show.”
She said she’s impressed with the headliners and hopes to make it to see some of them.
“I really want to see Bruce Springsteen but I don’t know if we’re going to arrive too late but I’ll try my best to get out. I’d like to catch a bit of Neil Young.
“I’m happy about the old school dad rock element that everyone keeps going on about,” said Khan.
Bat For Lashes performed in the hub for George Lamb at 11.40 am GMT today (24 June).
You will be able to listen again on the BBC iPlayer.
