Ida slams Perry

Outspoken Norwegian singer brands US pop star "boring"
12 February 2009 - Ida Maria has hit out at Katy Perry, labelling her "dull", after critics compared her with the US pop star.

The Norwegian singer said she is sick of being put in the same bracket as the I Kissed A Girl songstress, Britney Spears and Pink.

"I think it's such a boring landscape she has been put in," Maria argued. "She’s like a calculated version of Lily Allen but without any brains or charm."

“I object to that way of producing artists and I don’t think she’s going to be happy in the long term. I don’t think anyone can be constructed like that."

The outspoken singer re-released her debut Fortress Round My Heart this week (February 9) with three extra tracks and new artwork.

Maria said she decided to rework her album because she wasn't happy with it's original release.

"The last time I released my record, I didn’t have much time to think how I really wanted it to come out, so it was rushed," she explained. "I just wanted to do it again and do a cover with no make up."

Maria has also been busy working on a single with a Norwegian rapper, which is due to be released in her motherland.

"It's a really cool song sang in Norwegian called, Say Adam, Say Adam, which is based around this idea that you eat something and speak the truth," she added.

The singer said she is unsure at this stage whether the single will eventually be released in the UK.

i'm sorry...who is this? she should think twice before she criticizes someone established like katy perry.granted, everyone can have their own opinion, but i don't think she should've said those things about katy when she really doesn't know her at all. she should just respect the fact that lots of people like support her and get on with her own career.

So if she is isn't happy with the original release of the album, will I (and others) be able to exchange it for a copy of the re-worked one? I mean, the original version could be considered as faulty!
