Third place for Critics' Choice Brit winner Florence and the Machine
07 January 2008 - Florence And The Machine has been praised across the industry for her soul inspired indie and has scooped third position on the BBC's Sound of 2009 list. The 22 year-old singer, Florence Welch, was propelled into the music industry's consciousness after her noted performance at SXSW festival in 2008.
The Londoner has since followed in Adele’s footsteps and been crowned winner of the 2009 Critics’ Choice Brit Award.
Florence is currently working on her debut album which is likely to include her two songs Kiss With A Fist and Dog Days Are Over, which were 6 Music playlisted.
Speaking to BBC 6 Music, she described a hectic year, saying: "It’s been a complete whirlwind. It really is like a rollercoaster, so high, amazing, but then I subject myself to crushing lows as well.
"I’m just like, ‘Everything’s so out of control, I don’t know what’s going on anymore, I need normality. I wanna go back to the beginning,’ but I think, just go with it."
