Zavvi's CD woes
Website has stopped selling music following Woolworths collapse
02 December 08 - The collapse of Woolworths has had a knock on effect which has led to Zavvi stopping all orders of music on its own website. It means most customer orders are being cancelled this week.
We will be cancelling existing customer orders where delivery cannot be guaranteed,' the retailer said on its website. Zavvi – formally Virgin Megastores – said Woolworth's Entertainment UK division was the group’s main supplier of DVDs, music and games.
The group said it will inform affected customers by email over the next couple of days and all payments will be refunded in full.
It's not the greatest lead up to Christmas, but most customers on the high street said they would look elsewhere to get their music, speaking to 6 Music one London shopper said:
"I don't go online to buy music from Zavvi as I find they can be quite expensive and i try and use other sites like Play.com or Amazon for all my music."
"We will be cancelling existing orders"
Zavvi statement
Zavvi Entertainment Group owns and operates 125 UK and Irish retail stores as well as the website.
A spokesperson for the group said the stores have not been affected by Woolworth's entering administration. 'Stock is still going into stores and the move to close orders to the website will augment that supply,' he said.
