Keith Flint (Yui Mok/PA)

Prodigy & Dizzee

Firestarter hitmakers enlist UK rapper on upcoming tour set for April
05 November 2008 - 1997 was the last time Liam Howlett, Keith Flint and Maxim all featured together on an album, now the dance act has reunited for their fifth studio album Invaders Must Die.

It's set for release on March 2nd 2009. The outfit will be out on the road for a UK arena tour in April. Invaders Must Die is the first time the trio have been on the same album since the release of Fat Of The Land in 1997.

Liam Howlett says the new material is an updated version of their distinctive sound: "We're really excited about it, it's inspired from our first two albums actually, and it feels really fresh to us."

Keith Flint continued:"I think it's everything Prodigy people love about The Prodigy, but fresh and new and not regurgitated. Just really back to the roots."

Flint went on to say that getting the album out on the road is a top priority for the band: "Get the tracks out there, that's what it's written for, to take it live. We've done a few gigs over the summer, it's been really cool and really fuelled us for doing our own tour for our fans and get the album out the box and make it do what's it made for."

Dizzee's got a big following in the UK - Maxim

Dizzee Rascal joins them

The Prodigy have also announced that Dizzee Rascal will tour with them next year.

Flint said it's important for the band that he joins them live: "We've got Dizzee Rascal coming out on tour with us as the special guest and we're buzzing with that. He's a wicked artist, he's a really great performer and he puts on a great show. He's really been rocking it over the summer so we're really buzzing to have him on."

Howlett agrees: "It's different for us, usually we have maybe more of the dance support acts, so we're kind of glad it's kind of different for us. Maybe it will be a mixture of fans at the gig, so we're excited about that."

Maxim says:"Dizzee's got a big following in the UK, so respect for him to do this tour with us."

Tickets for their tour go on sale on Friday 7th November.

The band will also be playing two warm up dates at Brixton Academy in London on December 12th and 13th - these are already sold out.

April 2009 tour dates:

5th - Cardiff International Arena
6th - Newcastle Metro Radio Arena
7th - Glasgow SECC
9th - Birmingham NIA
10th - Manchester MEN Arena
11th - Nottingham Arena
13th - Sheffield Arena
14th - Brighton Centre
17th - London Wembley Arena

Me too! Can't wait for my next Prodigy gig. I've not been out all year!! They rock everytime. I love the early Prod' stuff in particular (1990-1995). So when they say they are going back to their roots, i wonder if they mean their hip-hop roots, or electronic roots! We shall see...
