The Streets vs. Muse

Unlikely musical collaboration surfaces online
05 Aug 08 - The much-rumoured musical collaboration between Muse and Mike Skinner of The Streets has surfaced online.

The track entitled Who Knows Who appeared on the message boards of Muse's official website yesterday (4 August) and has prompted frantic debate amongst Muse fans.

Back in April last year Muse frontman Matt Bellamy revealed his desire to work with Skinner during an interview with 6 Music, saying he wanted to create “England’s answer to Rage Against The Machine” and this new collaboration is thought to have taken place after The Streets supported Muse at Wembley Stadium.
“The track was the result of a late night jam session"
- Muse

The band have responded to the ‘leaking’ of the song with a statement on their website which reads:

“The MP3 floating around on the message boards at the moment is a track we recorded with Mike Skinner a few months ago.

“The track was the result of a late night jam session and something we did for a bit of a laugh featuring a blues riff we have been playing live recently upon which Skinner recorded some vocals.

“It is not intended to be a serious release so we are happy for it to be leaked around unofficially. Hope you enjoy, Cheers. Matt, Dom & Chris.”

i think the music is great. its right on with tom morello's style...i understand if it was a "late night jam session," but skinner needs to work on his lyrics, especially if they are going for the Rage appeal. he's too comical of a guy to pull off anything 'political' like de la Rocha.
