Chris Martin Crumbles

Singer walks out of interview
12 June 08 - Everything was going well for Coldplay today. Their album Viva La Vida is tipped to go to number one in the album chart after record sales.

But one of the biggest bands in the world seemed to crumble under the pressure during an interview on Radio 4's Front Row tonight.

When asked by presenter John Wilson about the lyrics and imagery on their record, Chris Martin refused to answer Wilson's question and left the studio.

"Did you start with the song Viva La Vida and the idea within that song of the diposed dictator looking back at his life?" asked Wilson. To which Martin replied:

"I'm not enjoying this. Can I have 2 minutes?"

Martin proceeded to leave the studio while John Wilson called after him:

"Are you feeling under pressure?"

"I just don't like talking about things," came Martin's reply as he walked out of the interview.

Wilson continued the interview with drummer Will Champion who insisted that his bandmate wasn't 'upset'.

Chris Martin finally returned to the studio but refused to give full answers and was reluctant to talk in detail about the record.

To hear the full interview you can listen again on the Radio 4 website here: www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/arts/frontrow

And for a full, tantrum free, interview with Coldplay, tune into Steve Lamacq on 6music from 4 o clock tomorrow.

ColdPlay or "Radiohead lite" as everybody is calling them, is a boring unprofessional group that has no business playing in the big leagues.

Josh California
Chris Martin acts like a total pretentious poseur as one would expect from someone devoid of any character or talent.

Alex, High Wycombe
I really like Chris Martin, despite how trendy it seems for some people these days to discredit him. This was very odd - I for one haven't heard of him being so closed off.

Guilligan
Strange...drugs perhaps?

Edmund Tan - Prestbury Cheshire
Sounds he could be on drugs.

Mr Kay
I’ve always regarded Chris Martin was a pretentious prat and he never disappoints. Next he’ll be saying that shareholders are the great evil of this modern world– but wait!! He already has.

liam, brighton
Who does he think he is?

Elisha, Newcastle
Maybe if he doesn't like asking questions about his commerical records, he should get into some other business!

G Wiz - Manchester
"one of those faces you would never tire of punching" - That's Genius. But seriously, it must be exhausting to have to pretend your lyrics mean something when they're just tenuously connected words united by a vague theme - normally to do with 'puzzles' that are, in themselves, about nothing.I've got some sympathy for him cause he's not trying to say anything most of the time, but then I see him doing that whole tilted head - wide open eyes-'Is that a camera?'- face and I'm back to just laughing at him.

Paul, Manchester
The Guy is a complete prat with one of those faces you would never tire of punching, you would think he would want to lie low rather than promote yet another safe, trite, meaningless turgid record from the dreadful Coldplay..yawn.

Gilly, London
What an utter ____! pretentious, boring, and humorless.

Ian, York
What a prima-donna. My two year old son wouldn't have behaved like that.
