Muse hit the studio

Drummer talks at Burrows' charity gig
29 May 08 - Muse are on their way to making their next album, according to drummer Dom Howard.

Howard revealed the news exclusively to 6 Music before Razorlight drummer Andy Burrows' charity show at the Union Chapel in London on Wednesday night (28 May).

“It’s going really good." Howard explained. "We’ve got a studio in Italy now. It’s our place and it’s really wicked.

“About a week ago we just started on some new stuff and actually started playing some new tracks and writing some new songs. So we're just getting the ball rolling again.

“We’ve been 'off' the creative period for so long, being on tour, y'know? So once you get back together you have to start thinking that kind of way, so you have to push that ball and get it rolling.

“And we did that, and it sounded great! So we've got a few tracks together and it’s coming along, so that’s what we’re doing right now. More of that in the future”

Dom played at the night and it was in aid of Naomi House Children's Hospice, which provides care for seriously and terminally ill children.

When asked about the sound of the new album, Dom said: “You get a whole bunch of ideas in the can and it’s not until later on that you actually decide what they should sound like and where they should go. But it’s a really exciting time.

"Other than that we're doing a whole bunch of gigs – V Festival, a little tour of South America and a few gigs in Ireland. Not forgetting how to play live. That’s what we're trying to do!"

Talking about the event itself, he explained: “I'm just here to play the drums to help out my mate Andy who's released his solo album –  a little collection of songs

"It’s all in aid of charity, Naomi House, so he asked me to play drums and he’s got a whole bunch of other mates and other musicians playing so I thought I'd say 'Yeah sure I’ll play'.”
