Singer wants to work with Gossip's Beth

07 May 08 - Sam Sparro has revealed that he wants to do a collaboration with Beth Ditto.

Talking to 6 Music, he said: “I’ve always said this and I’ll say it again just in case she’s ever listening – I would love to do a track with Beth Ditto.

“I think we would just do something really out of this world together.”

The singer from Los Angeles also joined in with the ongoing Glastonbury debate about whether headliner Jay-Z was a good choice for the festival.

The Black and Gold singer, who performed at Shepherd’s Bush Empire on Tuesday 6 May, has never played the event before but said that despite some of the negative coverage - he's looking forward to it.

He told 6 Music: “I’m a Glastonbury virgin so maybe I’ve missed the hey day but this will be my first time there.

“Glastonbury’s about diversity in music y’know and if it’s just gonna be all just kind of one type of band, then it’s not gonna be a very good festival.

“So why not open it up - and y’know why not? Jay-Z’s cool.”

Sam went on to talk about band's that get branding deals - like Groove Armada's recent sign-up with Bacardi.

“I think it’s weird that the record industry’s losing so much control and power over music and artists and what they’re doing,” he said.

“I mean obviously people are trying to come up with new ways to make money off of music and make back some of the lost profits over how ever many years with the decline of record sales.”

Sam Sparro also plays at the Shepherd’s Bush Empire on Wednesday 7 May.
