Scott Weiland

Velvet Revolver split

Front man of band leaves
02 April 2008 - After a recent war of words in the press, Velvet Revolver and front man Scott Weiland have now officially parted ways.

A statement from guitarist Slash said: "This band is all about its fans and its music and Scott Weiland isn't 100% committed to either.

“His increasingly erratic onstage behaviour and personal problems have forced us to move on."

In the weeks leading up to the split, an online feud unfolded between Weiland and drummer Sorum.

Recently Weiland told a Glasgow crowd that the band was on its last tour and then when Sorum blogged about the incident, Weiland responded angrily.

He lambasted his band mate while boasting of his own record sales and professionalism “regardless of how many drugs I’ve ingested into my system.”

This break-up news comes after Billboard revealed details of a reunion tour by Weiland's original band - Stone Temple Pilots.

In January, Slash said that Velvet Revolver would begin working on the follow-up to last year's Libertad almost immediately after the band finished the European tour, but it is unknown now what the remaining members plan to do.

Weiland voluntarily entered rehab in February, which forced the cancellation of some concert dates.

No replacement has been named for Weiland.

good luck if the do consider walt lafty (Silvertide) , he is a bit of a looney bin and a loose cannon if you ask me. He might be alittle too much for VR to handle but then again they delat with 2 ego trips so a total nutcase wouldn't be a far off choice.I still think its gonna be Brett M's though... there is really nobody out there at the monet other then the people we have all written here....at least known singers anyway

Owain, Newport
It is a shame that Scott is no longer a part of the band, he is an amazing front man. I'm sure the guys will carry on without him, they been playin together for years and it just makes sense. Seen VR twice - very impressive. Maybe Duff could take over on vocals...

Dave Butler ,Plymouth Devon England
Damn shame saw them March 26th @ Brixton, thought they were great.Hope Slash and the guys find a new singer and soldier on!

Walt lafty from silvertide should take scott's place.

i think it would be great for axl to come back. it would make an amazin set ist of both gnr and velvet revolver songs for gigs.

Birmingham
This is sad, I also saw them in Birmingham and I was right at the front. They were brilliant it's a shame they can't work things out. i'm just greatful I've seen them twice. I agree about Robbie Williams. I don't think anyone would go and see them if he was a serious replacement!

John Diamond, Sunderland
IM quite glad actually he brought the band down and a new vocalist will make them a lot better in the future i reckon axle should come back and reform G n R

pete kent bodmin
maybe they should get in the cults ex singer or try to find a singer that dont take drugs (good luck)

Matt. Birmingham
Sorry to see him go, i saw them last week in Birmingham, they where great . As for Robbie Williams taking over from Scott Weiland. That is a joke.
