Nash to open Glasto

The Foundation singer kicks off festival
21 Feb 08 - Brit Award winner Kate Nash will open Glastonbury 2008, being the first act on the Pyramid Stage at noon on Friday 27 June.

The festival will feature headline performances from Kings of Leon, Jay-Z and The Verve across the weekend which will be happenng on Worthy Farm in Somerset.

This news follows Kate’s win in the Best British Female Solo Artists award category at the Brit Awards on Wednesday night (20 Feb).

She beat PJ Harvey, KT Tunstall, Leona Lewis and Bat For Lashes and Kate had this to say about the other nominees in her category: "It’s helping to eradicate the common misconception that female is a genre, because everyone thinks that every female artist is the same and that's totally not the case.

"I would have been happy for anyone who won, but obviously I am much much more happy that I won…"

Kate has also announced that she will release her next single Merry Happy on 14 March and she is on tour in the UK throughout February and March.

Further festival dates of Kate’s will be announced later in the year.

For people to be able to buy a ticket to Glastonbury Festival when they go on sale on April 6, they must register via the official website.

The registration closing date is 14 March.
