Cribs/Marr Album
Collaboration could get full release
29 Jan 2008 - The Cribs have been speaking to 6 Music about working with legendary guitarist Johnny Marr.As previously reported here on 6 Music the band from Wakefield spent most of last week in the studio with the ex-Smiths guitarist, in Stockport.
Bassist Gary Jarman told Nemone on 6 Music this afternoon that it's been a bit of a whirlwind, but there should be a good result: "You could not wish for a better dream... our dream guitarist, there could be an album for sure, we are gonna do some live stuff together."
He added that they weren't a hundred percent sure of what to do with all the material just yet: "Well we don’t know what were gonna do with it yet, we never made a full decision originally, we were just like 'Let's just get together and play for fun'... we're buddies and it seemed like a fun thing to do."
"There could be an album for sure" - Ryan Jarman, The Cribs
Jarman talked through the process of what happened in Stockport last week: "We wrote a song a day for the past week, we did like five days, we wrote four and demo'd them on the last day we don't know what were gonna do now because Johnny was like, 'If we are writing this quick, we should keep getting together and get a record together'.
The band are certainly going to release something, Jarman says it won't go to waste: "It's been going well and it would be shame to cut it short, the original intention was to be doing an EP, its been great having a new member, especially when the new member is your favourite guitarist."
