Radiohead's BBC event?
Colin Greenwood reveals the bands latest plans
25 Jan 08 - Radiohead are planning to hold a very special event with the BBC soon. The details are sketchy as it’s still being organised but speaking exclusively to Stuart Maconie on BBC Radio 2, Colin Greenwood hinted that the band were plotting a series of live dates throughout the year, which he admitted was “a massive thing” for them:
“We only started talking about it (the BBC event) yesterday in the meeting, so we are getting some plans together to play a show and play some songs from the record for the BBC.”
Colin Greenwood also appeared on Mark Riley’s Brain Surgery show last night (24 Jan), and claimed they were still buzzing from the ‘secret gig’ which they put on for just around a hundred people:
“It was a surprise all round, it got moved but it was one of those things where everything went right for the wrong reasons, it was like playing a little club, standing next to each other, we played the Bends and seeing my brother Jonny slashing the chords through that song was just brilliant.”
Colin went onto say that the release of In Rainbows, which they played in full that night, has been a help and a hindrance:
“It has been really extreme, it has been like the opposite of every record we have ever released through EMI or a record company, so it has been brilliant but full on.”
