Glasvegas get Presley'd

The band work with Lisa Marie
20 Jan 2008 - Unsigned Scot rockers Glasvegas are now heading to LA to record a song with one of their biggest fans Lisa Marie Presley.

The band met up with Lisa Marie, and her mum Priscilla, in an Edinburgh pub last month.

Lead singer James said: "Lisa Marie said she had listened to Daddy's Gone eight times in a row. She said the lyrics really touched her when she phoned from America to say how much she liked the song."

James wrote the song about his parents splitting up.

Glasvegas are also currently causing a sensation on auction site Ebay.

Scores of fans of the band who are being hailed "the most exciting band of the last 20 years" are ready to pay £100 each for vinyl copies of the band's first two singles.

A copy of the band's ultra-rare first single, Go Square Go, sold last week for £100 after receiving 39 bids.

And a copy of Glasvegas second single 'Daddy's Gone' is on offer for a Buy Now price of £69.99.

The 7" singles were self-released by the group, as they are yet to sign to a major label.
The most exciting Scottish band in the last twenty years - Alan McGee

Formed in 2004, Glasvegas have been tipped for the top by Creation Records founder Alan McGee, he has described the band as "the most exciting Scottish band in the last twenty years".

Saying: "I first spotted Glasvegas in 2006 playing third on the bill at King Tut's Wah Wah Hut, a la Oasis. They immediately caught my attention. I got their myspace that evening and loved it. In fact I hadn't loved anything that much since the Jesus and Mary Chain demo tape in the 80s... For me, Glasvegas are the sound of young Scotland today."

The band are currently preparing for an NME tour and are expected to sign to a major label by the end of the month.
