Klaxons album plans
Award-winners to work with Tony Visconti
05 Dec 2007 - Klaxons are set to work with legendary producer Tony Visconti on the follow-up to their award-winning debut album, Myths of the Near Future. The band, who are set to play London’s Brixton Academy tonight (Wednesday), plan to get together with Tony – famed for his work with David Bowie and T-Rex – in the New Year.
Back in May they told 6 Music they wanted to make their second album, the follow-up to their Mercury Music Prize winning debut, a cross between “Thriller and Dark Side of the Moon.”
Speaking ahead of tonight’s show, James told 6 Music’s Nemone:
“At the end of February we’re going in the studio with Tony Visconti to do a couple of tracks. He’s just a lovely man. He came along to a few of our New York shows and was interested, so we’re gonna try him out.”

James says he feels the band have only become great live in the last few months, despite being on the road for more than a year:
“Its only pretty much in the last four, five months that we’ve actually been able to play the album well. When we started out, we couldn’t really play our instruments. A tour manager came in, in January and said “you guys aren’t good enough,” which was brutally honest. So we stopped partying as much and started working hard.”
