Amy scraps the lot
Winehouse says it's too hard without Blake
27 Nov 07 - Amy Winehouse has cancelled all of her remaining live shows. This afternoon management confirmed that any promotional appearances and gigs for the remainder of the year would be scrapped - the star will now be resting to recover from the pressure of a tumultuous year. The statement says:
“On the instruction of her doctor. The rigours involved in touring and the intense emotional strain that Amy has been under in recent weeks have taken their toll. In the interests of her health and well-being, Amy has been ordered to take complete rest and deal with her health issues.
Amy says - "I can't give it my all onstage without my Blake. I'm so sorry but I don't want to do the shows half-heartedly; I love singing. My husband is everything to me and without him it's just not the same."
Earlier this year Amy pulled out of V festival and ditched a series of gigs in August.
Ticket holders for any of the cancelled shows should return their tickets to the point of purchase for refunds.
"I think she has probably done the right thing by calling it off before it gets any worse." - Paul Stokes, NME
The news editor of the NME Paul Stokes, said that cancelling the dates probably is a good decision: "It just sound like the shows have been really awful, it sounds like the fans have turned against her. There was alot of booing, I think it had become a bit of a joke - all this 'Wait till my husband gets out of prison' business which she was saying on stage. So I think she has probably done the right thing by calling it off before it gets any worse."
Paul added its been a tough year for Amy: "Her husband Blake has been remanded in custody over Christmas in a court case that is on going at the moment, she's had that to deal with... Obviously she has come back from all the criticism she had in the Summer when she allegedly had a drug overdose, so this year has been quite stressful for her, and yet ironically her most successful at the same time."
