Ex-Ramones manager murdered
Linda Stein found dead in New York
01 Nov 07 - The former manager of The Ramones has been found dead in her home in New York.Linda Stein’s body was discovered by her daughter. A post mortem has determined that she died from blows to the head and neck. Police said they had no motive or suspects.
Linda, who was 62, is credited with bringing The Ramones to England with co-manager Danny Fields for their infamous 4 July 1976 concert. The gig is credited with helping to spark the British punk scene. She parted company with the band and Fields in 1980 and went on become a real estate agent to the stars.
Danny Fields said Linda had the right temperament for the music business:
“She was very tough, but very loving and generous.” He added: “It was enough dealing with her death. Now it’s a murder.”
Linda, a former schoolteacher, was also the ex-wife of Seymour Stein, the former President of Sire Records, home of The Ramones, Talking Heads and Madonna.
