Arctic Monkey Alex Turner at Mercurys

New album from Turner

Details of Arctic Monkeys side project
20 Oct 07 - James Ford of Simian Mobile Disco's revealed what we can expect from the album he's working on with Arctic Monkey's frontman Alex Turner and Miles Kane.

They've been out to Paris to record it, which James tells us was one of his best recording experiences ever:
"It was amazing, really quick and we had fun, played ping pong, ate cheese and drank red wine."

Musically though, he says they've recorded on old school tape with James playing most of the drums and base himself with some keyboards. They enlisted some other help too:

"We're doing some strings with a guy called Final Fantasy who does a lot of the Arcade Fire strings. The stuff we were really listening to was like Scott Walker and I think there's some really great songs on there."

"We'll probably finish it off towards the end of the year and it'll probably be out next year. But I can still listen to it and enjoy it, which at this stage in the album making process is rare."

Simian Mobile Disco have just played the CMJ festival in New York.
