Truck Fest Recovers
The sun shines for rescheduled festival
23 Sept 2007 - It had to be rescheduled back in July due to flooding, but this weekend has seen Truck Festival return in full glory for it's 10th year. The site was swamped at Hill Farm in Steventon, Oxfordshire when the river bank broke. Organisers were forced to postpone the event, sacrificing a number of bands that weren't able to reschedule:
But the sun has been shining on Truck's field of dreams this weekend. So far it's seen performances from I Was a Cub Scout, Foals and Garth & Maud Hudson.
Blood Red Shoes played the Trailer Park Stage and told 6 music why they think Truck festival is such a success:
"I just really like the fact that it's a genuinely independent festival and it's run by people because they just want to run a festival. It's got no real corporate branding and it's not run by people for money - it's run by some dudes that just want to have a cool festival. And it tends to have bands that are unknown, don't have labels, don't have big booking agents. It's a much more grass roots based festival."
This almost shouldn't be happening, it was technically cancelled. It's just amazing that they managed to get it to happen.
Alex - Electric Soft Parade
Electric Soft Parade are playing the main stage tonight just before Idlewild's headline slot. 6 Music caught up with Alex from the band who says he's glad the festival was able to be rescheduled:
"It keeps hitting me every few minutes - this almost shouldn't be happening, it was technically cancelled. It's just amazing that they managed to get it to happen. It's beautiful. And so far the weather's been holding out."
It will be the 5th time Electric Soft Parade have played the festival. We asked whether they'd do it again:
"Yea, definitely if they'll have us. But I don’t know, 6 years on the trot means we should probably start paying rent"
