Blur reunion is on

Alex James reveals the latest
10 Sept 07 - Alex James has given 6 Music an exclusive update on a Blur reunion and the follow-up to Think Tank.

Alex reckons Graham Coxon – who left five years ago over musical differences – is ready to re-join the band.  Speaking to Julie Cullen on The Music Week, he said:

“Funnily enough, people have been talking to each other. I don’t think Graham and Dave have spoken for quite some time and there’s been a flurry of texting and long chats which is good. I’m very hopeful.”

Alex reckons that, on reflection, they all needed a break:

“It’s actually been brilliant to have a bit of time apart from each other. I think we all needed it as people. I think we’d all be unbearable if we’d carried on living that kind of lifestyle. It’s given us all time to find ourselves a little bit.”

Alex suggests the outside projects they've all undertaken have helped renew their interest in working together again:

“Everyone’s found something to do. Writing the book made me realise how much we kind of do, actually, really love each other. So many bands don't, and they've been together who’ve for a long time. Look at The Who. They hate each other!

“Pink Floyd don’t like each other. I don’t think The Rolling Stones really like each other that much. But I think that we all do, actually, kind of deep down somewhere, want to be friends and like each other.

“What’s great is that none of us need to do it now. We’ve all found other things to do so we can all approach things rationally and say ‘Would this be good?’ and I think it would be emotionally for all of us. It’s a shame Graham wasn’t involved in the last record, now he feels he’s ready. And its quite exciting actually.”

i won't believe until graham sez it, agreed. i think damon and graham rule one their own but who can honestly say that the world wouldn't be a better place if blur got back together and made another album? the answer is no one...

good thing to be kept updated through Alex... someone could as well delete the whole blur.co.uk thing..I can't wait to hear new songs, though I got strong reservations against Damon's contemporary songwriting.

Perhaps Blur and Oasis could patch up their differences and do u joint gig with each other at the New Wembley...imagine that??? Liam would introduce the event by saying "Good evening Manchester" like he did on Familiar to Millions album and Blur would start a ruck followed by 1000,s of Ben sherman clad people fighting each other, it would be mayhem...I'd pay TOP DOLLAR to witness that...WHERE! do i get a ticket from......To be honest Blur/Oasis...who gives a damm....Foo fighters have got nothing to worry about really have they...Grow Up Mr James,...lets face it....You've had your day
