New Order split

Band go their separate ways
20 June 07 - New Order confirm that the band have split.

Music fans have known for sometime now that a New Order split was on the cards, at the beginning of the month bassist Peter Hook confirmed that the band had decided to go their own way. Speaking to our 6 Music reporters on Monday as he attended the Mojo Awards, Peter Hook made it clear they wouldn’t work again as a band. Hook looked visibly upset about it, and said:

“It has been very sad actually, and it has been very difficult to live with, but that is life, isn’t it? But you pick yourself up, you dust yourself off, and you start all over again.”

When he was pressed on the reasons for a split, Hook brushed aside the question and stated simply that, “it’s personal.”

Peter Hook was at the Mojo Honours List ceremony to accept a top music award as Joy Division were honoured an Outstanding Contribution to Music gong.

New Order have been through so much, and for what it's worth I think they should have split after the world cup song... that was the worst record they ever made, although it was the best world cup song ever... he he... Seriously though, they are a legendary band and were my first favourite band. They were touched by the hand of god and in the end love tore them apart, perhaps... :) Thanks for everything up until the world cup song anyway...
