Alex recalls past

Blur bassist publishes memoir
06 June 07 - Alex James has been talking about his past with Blur.

The bassist published his memoir, A Bit of a Blur, this week.

“Looking back, it made me realise how much fun it all was. It’s a light-hearted business really – pop music. But it can also be a shame. Roger Waters and Dave Gilmour plainly don’t like each other at all and it’s a real shame. The most precious thing you really take from the experience of being in a band – what makes the journey worthwhile - is the relationships within the band. That’s really what gives it meaning; colour.”
"Success is almost guaranteed to mess you up more than failure."

Alex’s book boasts its fair share of revelations. But he feels he’s learnt from them all:

“I think in any rock and roll band there’s lots of rock and roll scenarios. In order to have a book you have to have a journey of some description.

“I remember there was one tour when I had two black eyes – one from Dave and one from Graham. Damon wasn’t speaking to me either! Giving young men what they want doesn’t generally bring out the best in them. Success is almost guaranteed to mess you up more than failure."

The band's drummer Davd Rowntree gave the clearest insight into exactly what’s happening about a possible band reunion. Speaking in today's press, he revealed that the boys will spend a week recording together and ‘see what happens'.
