The Cooper Temple Clause: Purveyors of great music. And great hair.

Cooper Temple radiation scare

Band get all-clear, says Dan
09 Dec 06 - The Cooper Temple Clause are thanking their lucky stars after a close shave with the radioactive trail that followed the death of Alexander Litvinenko.

They flew back to the UK recently on a plane that was contaminated with polonium-210, which killed the ex-Russian agent.

Dan from the Coopers told 6 Music they'd been given the all-clear from the NHS - so they can now concentrate on the release of new single Waiting Game next month, followed by new album Make This Your Own.

He explained what happened: "My girlfriend let me know. She gave me a call and said 'what plane did you get on?', 'cos me and (CTC lead singer) Ben had just done some promo work in Germany, and I was like, I dunno.

"So we did a bit of investigation and found out that yes, me and Ben had come back on the old polonium-210 radioactive Incredible Hulk flight."

He then rang the NHS direct number that everyone who might be worried about the situation was instructed to dial.

Dan continued: "I said, listen, I was on that plane and I just wanted to know am I going to turn into the Incredible Hulk now or what? The bloke said, well, have you been sick? And I was like, no, and he said well you'll probably be alright then. And that was it!"

The band release Waiting Game, out 8 January and album Make This Your Own  on 22 January. They'll be announcing a full UK tour in the New Year - but may well play a few one-off gigs before Christmas, so stay tuned to 6 Music for any news.
