Sam Duckworth has issues

12 Nov 06 - Get Cape, Wear Cape, Fly - aka Sam Duckworth - has hit out at the BNP following their recent victory in the courts over charges of racism.

He wants musicians and music lovers to stand up against the far right, especially the BNP.

During his recent UK tour which finished in Manchester on Saturday, he has consistently slated the party from the stage and encouraged audience members to sign a petition against them.

Talking yesterday to Imran Ahmed and Julie Cullen on the Music Week, he said he felt it was his duty as a musician to make a stand.

He explained: "People say, when you talk about the British National Party, you give impetus for people to go and research and out about what they're about and I say, do you know what? Fine.

"People are going to find out about the British National Party one way or another and how vile and disgusting their views are, especially their Islamophobic stance and their homophobic stance."

He added: "I feel possessed as a citizen of this country to make a stand as opposed to just being a musician trying to make a point."

Sam also revealed he plans to  work with Love Music Hate Racism next year to tour schools spreading the word.
