Beck takes over 6 Music

Day dedicated to star with exclusive interview, sessions plus more
20 Sept 06 - To celebrate the release of Beck's new album The Information on 2 October, 6 Music's holding its very own Beck Day the same day.

The maverick musician is taking over the airwaves throughout the day, playing live sessions, while the new record will also be our Album of the Day.

Fans can also hear from the man himself when he drops into Steve Lamacq's show for an exclusive chat about the album and what it was like working with Nigel Godrich, who's best known for is work with Radiohead.
"I wanted to have more of a live sound."

There's also the chance to win signed copies of his entire back catalogue.

Beck gave 6 Music a taster of what to expect from the new record:

"You know, it's different from the last album, but it's sort of a continuation. It's still got the beats and good amount of hip hop tracks. It's not like Sea Change. It's not a quiet acoustic record."

He added: "I wanted to have more of a live sound. I hate to use the word 'organic', but you hear the bass player and the drum player's mics and it's a bit messy."

The Information is Beck's seventh studio album and the follow-up to last year's Guero.
