"Every childhood should be a time for optimism and innocence. In many places it is instead a time of violent chaos, deprivation and fear."
Tim Rice-Oxley
Keane's piano player Tim Rice-Oxley said they had to get involved:
"Every childhood should be a time for optimism and innocence," he said. "In many places it is instead a time of violent chaos, deprivation and fear. War Child is doing everything it can to change that, and we are proud to give them our sincere support."
Bands have just one day to record a new piece of music which War Child will make available on warchildmusic.com on 9 September.
A physical CD release will follow a few weeks later. It marks the tenth anniversary of the now legendary 1995 Help album.
Proceeds this time around will help children in war zones including Iraq, Afghanistan and The Congo.
Also joining the line-up are The Magic Numbers, singer Romeo Stodart said: "We are very excited to contribute a new song, Tonight, to the album to support this extremely worthwhile cause."
