Pixies record again

First new album in 14 years
15 July 05 - There are plans for the first new Pixies album in 14 years.

The band headline at the Reading and Leeds Festivals weekend at the end of August (27-29).

It has now been revealed that they then intend to head back to the studio to make a follow-up to Trompe Le Monde, which came out in 1991.

Formed in Boston in 1986, The Pixies were hailed as the breakthrough alt rock act but never won over MTV and originally split in 1992.

"We really want to make a record for the right reasons."
Frank Black
Frank Black brings out his own solo album Honeycomb next week but under his Black Francis guise has confirmed to contactmusic that "it's all hugs and kisses" after last year's reunion tour:

"We have been discussing a new album lately. As happy as we are with the success of the reunion tour, we really want to make a record for the right reasons, whether it is successful commercially or not."

Since the 2004 comeback the band have recorded again, releasing a download single Bam Thwok, which also featured on the soundtrack for the film Shrek 2.

Of the new material he says:  "We would be satisfied if it played like our other records. Never chart-topping but always in print".

David H, Manchester
Charles Thompson has recently been quoted as saying "it's time to bring home the bacon". Let's just hope the new album does not go all commercial in order to achieve this. Any new material will be a bonus for Pixies fans, I believe that they will not let us down. The huge expectation is bound to bias media reviews, but this won't matter to the real fans.

This rumour doesn't sound too substantial to me!

WHOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

Bruce, Glasgow
Hopefully it's good news depending on their quality control.
