Travis fill Mozza's boots
Scots rockers to headline Isle Of Wight
02 June 05 - Travis are to replace Morrissey at this year's Isle Of Wight Festival after the former Smiths frontman pulled out at the last minute. The Scots rockers join a bill which includes REM, Snow Patrol, Embrace, Faithless, Razorlight, Supergrass, Idlewild, Roxy Music, Feeder, Goldie Lookin' Chain, Babyshambles, Ray Davies, Nine Black Alps, Starsailor and The Magic Numbers.
Initially, Morrissey's label Sanctuary said the star had pulled out because of "the pressure of preparing his new album and losing his drummer earlier this month."
However, the singer himself then claimed that his label had acted without his knowledge and that he had never agreed to play the festival in the first place.
John Giddings of festival promoters Solo he's got signed statements to prove the singer had agreed to play, but that either way, he's never welcome at the festival again.
He told 6 Music: "I wouldn't even invite him round for a cup of tea. It's just truly sad that he can let people down like that without a care. Because if I called him up with two weeks to go and said 'I don't want you here' they would probably put me in a court of law, you know?"
Meanwhile, Travis frontman Fran Healy is also busy at the moment helping Midge Ure organise the Scottish leg of the Live 8 series of concerts - as well as recording the next Travis album.
