Reni backs Roses reunion

He and Mani speak to 6 Music
31 May 05 - The Stone Roses reunion rumours are on again after former band member Reni told 6 Music: "never say never".

He gave a rare interview when he turned up at The Coral's Manchester gig at the weekend with former band mate Mani.

Their joint appearance fuelled talk of a Roses reunion once again - and the pair were happy to admit getting back together remains a possibility.

"Never say never, but it won't be this year"
Reni

Reni, who was the first to quit the Roses in 1995, told 6 Music: "never say never, but it won't be this year".

Mani joked the band would reform "the day after (Manchester) City win the European cup".

He added: "Me , Ren and Mr Squire were out, which fuelled rumours that we were rehearsing or something."

Of a possible reunion, Mani said: "I would love to, just for the sheer joy of playing with this guy again. I've missed."

Reni responded: "I'm going to play with him, that's guaranteed. I'm writing songs for me and him."

Mani added: "whether it be the Roses or not, we've got to work together at some time."

Despite their former bandmate Ian Brown playing as part of the Manchester 24 hour event, neither Mani or Reni said they would see his gig - but Reni praised The Coral.

He said: "I came because Mani told me there were some gigs on it town - Mani's got his finger on the pulse.

"He brought me out to see The Coral - I didn't think I'd like it because I hate a lot of young bands because they're so crap, undisciplined and just a racket - but these boys are sweet."
