Raymonde blames bandmates
Cocteaus reunion collapses18 March 05 - Simon Raymonde has blamed the collapse of the Cocteau Twins reunion on his former bandmates.
The band were due to play a gig at the Coachella festival in California on 30 April.
However, an official message on the band's website was posted saying the gig was cancelled on the request of singer, Elizabeth Fraser.
Speaking exclusively to 6 Music, Simon Raymonde said:
"The long and short of it is that the other two members of the band [Elizabeth Fraser and Simon Guthrie] were a couple, and they split up and all that stuff and I think things didn't quite get fixed.
"When push came to shove they just couldn't work together.
"I think we all thought they could and they gave it their best shot, but it just wasn't to be."
The reunion gig was only announced last month and UK dates were expected to follow later in the year.
"It's terrible for the amount of work that everybody put into it. There were a lot of people that bought tickets to go and see us and I feel awful about it.
"It would have been a great year and would have been great fun to do."
The band, who were together for fifteen years, called it a day in 1998. The end came during the recording of the follow up album to the 1996 album, Milk and Kisses.
