Pete Doherty, formerly of The Libertines

Doherty's Top 10 pledge

published 02 December
Pete Doherty has told today's Daily Star he'll stop smoking crack if he gets a Top 10 single this week.

The former Libertines singer has released Killamangiro with his new band Babyshambles and it looks set to go into the charts at Number Two behind Band Aid.

Pete's also announced he'll celebrate New Years Eve by playing four gigs in one night on 31 December.
The acoustic shows will take place at:

Birmingham - Medicine Bar
Stoke - The Underground
Oldham - The Castle
Manchester - Aqua

His band Babyshambles also play their biggest tour to date later this month.

pete just by getting a top 10 sngle si not going to stop your addiction. Go and get some real help, go into rehab and stop the smack, and if you don't want to do it for yourself then do it for your fans, friends and family, don't keep putting them through the pain

I look up to Pete and I love him with all my heart but I honestly think this thing about the top 10 single is rubbish. He has an addiction, he needs help to overcome that addiction and a top 10 single just won't make that addiction go away. But hey, best of luck to him.
