The BBC 6 Music Selector 2005
Franz Ferdinand and Kaiser Chiefs are set to take over the digital airwaves when The BBC 6 Music Selector returns on Monday 12 December.

The chart-topping artists follow in the footsteps of Selector's previous incumbents, Radiohead and The Manic Street Preachers, who were given the freedom to programme BBC 6 Music for a week in 2003 and 2004 respectively.

This year's hosts will each enjoy one day's reign, during which they can champion a favourite artist, album of the day and select classic live performances from the BBC's unrivalled music archive.

Here's the line-up of the bands on 6 Music:

Kaiser Chiefs and Franz Ferdinand have both enjoyed massive success this year, with the former receiving a Mercury Music nomination for Employment and the latter's second album, You Could Have It So Much Better, garnering rave reviews. The 6 Music Selector will offer a very personalized insight into their tastes as music fans, rather than musicians, revealing the artists that influenced them and continue to fire their musical curiosity. Kaiser Chiefs have already commissioned a brand new session from their Rock 'n' Roll Riot tour mates, and personal favourites, The Cribs.

BBC 6 Music's Head of Programmes, Ric Blaxill, has been delighted by the incredible response: "It is a real honour for the network that these artists wanted to come on board and make The 6 Music Selector even bigger than its previous incarnations.
