Courtney Love, Oasis and Moby are set to take over the digital airwaves when the BBC 6 Music Selector returns on Monday 11th December 2006.

MobyThey follow in the footsteps of some illustrious predecessors, Radiohead, Manic Street Preachers, Franz Ferdinand and Kaiser Chiefs, who over the past 4 years were given the freedom to programme BBC 6 Music for Selector.

Courtney Love kicks off proceedings on Monday, on Tuesday Liam, Gem and Andy take over network programming for the day and then Moby gets his chance to curate 6 Music on Thursday.

What the Selectors have chosen:

Courtney Love says: “I like to think I have good (or at least interesting) taste, and I’m doing sort of a teaching exercise; I want people to learn things. I kind of find myself living in the past. There’s a lot of 60s stuff, some 80s and a little bit of 90s. It’s sort of a chronology of my life.”

Love’s selections include music from the New Order, The Psychedelic Furs, R.E.M., Elvis Presley and The Bangles, plus a documentary about the New Wave scene in Liverpool where she lived in the early eighties, hanging out with Julian Cope and Echo and the Bunnymen. She also talks about her work with her first band, Hole, recording sessions for the BBC, and meeting Kurt Cobain for the first time.

Oasis' choices range from The Sex Pistols, The Beatles and The Kinks to Boards of Canada, The Go! Team and Amy Winehouse. They have also commissioned one of their favourite bands, The Coral, to record a special and exclusive four track session at Noel Gallagher's studio.

Moby reveals the profound influence of UK music on his career, including David Bowie, Roxy Music, Echo and the Bunnymen and Joy Division, and says the invitation to do Selector was too good to miss: "When you get the chance to take over a radio station and play the music you love of course you have to say yes. I used to DJ at a college radio station many, many years ago. So this will make me feel very nostalgic, like I'm back at University".
