L looks at the drum and the bass in LA

LA is home to some of the largest festivals featuring DnB in the world. they have supported the ragga style of DnB since day one and now the bay area boasts some of the worlds finest producers.

I'm looking to get the lowdown on the internal workings of the city, from stalwart record/lifestyle shops to promoters, studio engineers to what it's like DJing and producing in the sun - I wanna know it all!! We in drum and bass are tech-minded, and heading to the land of the silicone valleys i'm expecting to get hurt.

The fact that DJ's halfway around the world in LA are so deep into DnB lets heads back in the UK know that the music is a world wide thing and getting out there and beyond through the music.

The artists repping DnB in LA for me include original junglist Raw from Tonz of Drumz, Infiltrata (pictured above), Origin, Hochi, Oscar the Grouch, Gamit and of course Photek. I love Hive's - Neo, which is a great testament to the LA sound.

The home of the big car and big traffic jams, raging hot summers and crazy weather switches - with that type of backdrop only the hyper-charged sound of DnB could travel so well over the pond. Get to know abit more about the city of lost angels join me for 1Xtra in the USA!
