wiley has inspired to many people and m.c s like myself to retire. He should stay around for many years if he decides to he is da sickest m.c out here in the u.k / and the states [serious] Big up whiley and the roll deep crew. from gary from swindon [badman] sick tune .
Aaron
Grime is terrible music, sounds like a load of kids with an atari.
Personally i think wiley should just stick to producing beats n leave the shoutin to the kids.
Scott
Wiley is a BIG mc an producer standard! there is to many haters in the game, he needs to get thru the stormy weather. grime needs the eskiboy.
Alex
at first thought he was just doing a Jay-Z but i guess he is serious about retiring. I personally think that he should start his own record label and produce tunes for up and coming talent and help them avoid the same mistakes he has made. He shouldnt turn his back on grime the industry he helped pioneer but its understandable that he wants to put down the mic.
kyle
well basicly wiley has been around for a long time now and he as made loads of good grime music that loads of fans love now he's sayin he's leavin the grime music so it's all upto him things might change they might not u have to wait and see but personally i think he should stay in the buisness big up all the people into grime etc
Martin H
This BOY brought everything to the game and then some. Whoever blows in the scene owes ESKI-MAN.
Wiley open'd new dimensions in the scene, not just part of it.
I personally think, this will not be the end you here of William.
'ESKI-MAN FROM THE OUTSIDE LOOKING IN' cooming soon.....

wiley will be missed, all this talk about major labels. hes got money behind him cos we hear bout is three cars and shiz! i dnt c y he dont bring out albems himself in hmv and dat. look at boy better know an dat puttin mixtapes in them national stores. he should set up some labels!!
J Dee
Its summin hes gotta decide on his own no1 can rele get wut hes sayin widout goin thru it but i reckon its a weak way of doin things.. If the scene is that bad it needs workin out. Wut we got goin on is like the old eastside/westside situation.. But people grew n realised wut they was doin, n wut they was doin was wrong.. Rather then duck out and let everyone else carry it on they work at it n try n make it better.. It aint gunna happen ovanite but if the monster he created is important enuff to him he wud try n save it. turn it around n make it more positive. dont lose a good thing, jus sort the problems out n make it betta.
i respect his decision either way as he's done a lot for london music but its summin u cant jus decide straight up
jock
trediin' on thin ice stands up not only as the sickest grime album but one of the best albums to come out of britain in recent times regardless of genres. da second phaze showed versatility and the tunnel visions had moments of greatness. wiley can do alot, and he can still do alot more. without wiley, grime would flop.
Phil
WILEY MADE GRIME AND SHOULD STAY IN THE GAME U CANT RETIRE , WHY NOT STAY THE BEST ND KEEP PREDUCING THE BEST GRIME AROUND I SAY TUNNEL VISION 6-10 ON THE WAY !
WILEY AND BOY BETTER KNOW THE BEST FING TO COME TO THE GRIME SCENE
PEACE

Slik
Willley y now wen grime is starting 2 get more listeners n dat?
john
wiley is a sik mc and its a shame dat da beef wid every1 means he gotta quit, wiley is still 1 of da best out there an he should stay on 4 a while longer
S
If/When we loose Wiley the scene will NOT be the same. We will get some stupid YOUNG UTE trying to step in the game and take over and Im not really feeling that to be honest. Wiley is like the Daddy of the scene and it truely respected and looked up to even by people older than him. I dont think he should leave and I do think its a bit of a odd reason to give up "because it dont pay the bills" well if your heart and soul is in something then you shouldnt give u keep driving at it.
He has moved the game FWD so much that anything or anyone now will turn it back and we are back to square one again!1
Peace

Wiley has been cosistent for years now...i think its time to move on, but he should carry on producing!
BLK2blk
woy-su.... The "Grime" scene is 95% negative vibes just face it. Even the good tracks are negative, most talk about “merking” mans like it’s a hobby for them. Ive been listening to ukg since the Dreem Teem - Charlie Brown days.... unfortunately I see grime as this negative music for negative people.
g swift
wiley has done a smart grime is geting to dangerous. but i feel he shood make a track about why he quit and not just hang up te mic like that he is walking out on something he has helped make and it wouldnt be the same if he just left. but ive gt much respect for him and he was one of the only MCs to not go on about shanks and guns... its stupid why do that ??
he knows what he should do and i hope he makes the rite descision.
Bruzman
Big up wiley Manz is gettin old 4 the grime game.he's do gud all the years.you should make a goodbye tune 4 us wiley. and stop the beef wit sniper e and lethal b.big me up b
Green Giant
wiley has done his thing! but coming to terms with it there are much better and younger artists in the scene now! Ghetto, Devlin, Schorcher!! etc.
to be honest wiley cant keep up with the scene, but i respect what he has done!!
JonnyJoeBlow
I don't really understand why he's putting his decision down to majors not showing interest. Grime is never really going to blow on a pop-crossover level, but can make some underground heads a comfortable living. I agree that more grime tracks should be made available on sites such as iToons, but maybe the artists aren't going out of their way to sew up a deal. After all, there's plenty small artists from other genres being sold on those sites -- why not grime? Likewise, are these people really trying to get their records into the highstreet stores, or are they waiting for the stores to come to them? You make your own luck at the end of the day!
Aaron Marsh
Whats he gona do if he retires, he's joking around or dumb. UK music is entering a new era, and artist are becoming more serious and more professional. To me Wiley is not a well rounded artist like Kano Klash or Sway, he still has alot to do. So I would suggest he takes the time out to study he's his craft!
ben v
grime is just startin 2 go sick n wiley is one of da best so i hope he dont stop doin it dont get me wrong ther iz some sick ppl aswell as wiley bt wiley iz da grime
Blacksterz
A true pioneer of the scene, it's a shame to see wiley turn his back on a scene he spearheaded. To be honest I can't see it getting much bigger without him. Dizzee is doing his own thing now, Sway is more of a hip hopper, although he has never changed his style. Kano's style is merging with hip hop, Lethal Bizzle won't be able to carry grime alone. I don't think there is much other people who will be able to bring real grime to the fore front otherwise.
On the topic of beefs, I think it's kinda contradictory of Wiley seeing as the on and off beef with Bizzle kept on going, and his infamous beef with Dizzee. One emcee I have to pay respect to at the moment though is JME, as he is managing to stick to real topics and not bring loads of violence into his tracks.
If Wiley bows out of grime, it definitely won't be as exciting... Hope his last album sends him out strong, although I don't want him to leave.
'The scene's gon down for a minute, But I'm gon bring it back, even if i gotta carry it on my back' Wiley - Eskiboy
simon aka sibagz
wiley blud , you been doing this from day and in your lyrics u say u will be doing this ting till the end , so whats going ? u the master of grime and it needs you for example its like playing football with without the ball ent guna happen is it !! i respect ur decison n all but its guna be a sad day ! got all ur mix tapes cds vinly ne way hope tings work out for ya
Mr Burns
Gutted. Wiley is always constent qualitly. He is the leader, without a leader pushing the boundrys where will we be?
t
wiley shoudnt quit hes 1 of the few emcees that chats bout positive stuff. grime is being held back by wack mcs who just shout down the mic setting a bad example.talented man like vader who have been doing it 4 years get less attension than the talentless ones with the same old bars that you hear on nearley evrey set. its about bars not hype
WASTEMAN STEVE
HE IS A WASTE MAN
J.S
Wiley has to be the best in the grime scene and his departure has effected everyone that supported the scene.
Dont think anyone will replace Wiley and his influence he has had making the scene.
Maybe Eskiboy will make a proud return to takeover once again !!!
Dj Muks A-Team
wiley is a big producer and mc...........the game wont be able to cope with out the big man.
Har Deep
Wiley was dying in the game, slowly he needs to instill his wisdom into the younger man on the scene. He should be schooling the youngun's of the game. As for retiring how many MC's say they retire and you hear them on next mans tracks. You will still hear more from Will no doubt.
Shane
Wiley, you are a pioneer and role model to many young black people. you have believed and created a music that has enabled many of us begin to get together as a community and relate as one, many businesses have been created from your foundations and that is a very positive thing. Yes, there are many negative people and troublemakers among us but if you quit they would have won. continue to be an innovater, creater and pioneer and help teach these young black youths the right way and how to become positive role models just like yourself. Music is a VERY powerul tool. Bless
JK
I he's going to do a Jay Z on us...don't worry he will be back soon enougth i reckon...
marmsu
Wiley is fire, why give on something good while you got it?
Damo, Glos
Sad day if its true. I think the record companies need to look at themselves long and hard. Wiley is the best and biggest in grime and not even the likes of Kano, Dizzee Rascal or Sway can claim to be in his league.

Wiley Kat. Big Boy In The Scene
Forget Retiring Bruv, Mans bin lisening 2 u 4 time. Jus come bak on the scene in a year and merk it. Hold Tight
Big Boy MC
lisha
ive been listening 2 wiley & roll deep 4 years, b4 dizzee came on the scene, and 4 me, he's the godfather of grime and i think if he retires now, then grime doesnt have much of a future. Just a bit more patience and hard work and grime will have a great future x
KMam
Yo Big up Wiley for being man enough to say " you know wat, allow this". He deceives credit for that. However wiley, don't become a goody two shoes man, start emceeing about life as a grown man taking care of your kid and still keeping it real with your 'true' friends. The game still needs you genious!
Aza T
I Love Wiley he is the best mc in the grime scene ,the 5 tunnel vision mixtapes were beautiful.
Marlon
Grime should have stayed grime rather than trying to turn it in to something 'Gangster' because we all know it had nothing to do with 'Gangster' to begin with and now MC's are talking like they are
some big time bosses like Al Capone, when in reality they are far from anything like that. All this gangster stuff does is turn people away either because they know half the stuff the MC's chat is not true or people just dont like it.
Mr.Hazardous
I believe what wiley is sayin is true. All the individuals want to get big in grime, but nobody wants to group up and push grime as an actual movement, the grime artists are cut up and they literrally have a list of artists who they can and cannot work with. When grime broke off from UK Garage, all the artists were supporting it as a movement. with the way grime is now, it wont go on to the next level. Tthere does need to be more grime around in any shops though because there are many people who do support their favourite artists so thats good.
silky
Wiley isnt the only artist in the uk to retire. The only difference is wiley has made it public. which i think is hype to gain him attention. If only people knew and realised the amount of artists that have silently retired!
think back to the PAY AS YOU GO days. Which other artist from that crew is still active in the music scene?
As far as i am concerned, plague, major ace, slimsey, are a few to mention that have retired in my opinion. But big up to wiley for making such a smart hype to add attention to his name... weather he retires or not!
Chris Browne
Wiley should never retire his the best mc on road n will allways be hopefuly he cums back the grime scene needs him
oh well
Wiley can not say that the 'beefs' are holding the genre back, as he instigated the majority of them as publicity stunts, in an attempt to follow the blueprint left by the US hip hop pioneers. I cant help but think that Wileys retirement is another publicity stunt, as it will definatley give him a talking point with the media when he does the promo for his forthcoming album, and most probably boost sales, as it did for Jay Z and The Black Album!!
propablo
grime isnt big as it should be because it isnt promoted in the majour record shops etc. hip hop is associated with violence and that hasnt held it back so grime should get massive too. there is definately an audience for grime up and down the country but not many people out of london know about it. im from plymouth and nearly all ma mates dont no about grime. content isnt the problem, look at JME hes got loads of content. mcs like him are gonna make grime big if its managed properly!!
0X4 BADMAN
wiley is one of the people thats holding grime together..he one of da main characters..but recenlty its turning into WWF rather than music...for example god's gift and his goons rushed wiley round xmas times all over nothing like...and dem man were bredrin, its the little thing with in the grime scene that stop other stuff from getting out...hard to explain!!
rayne
if he wants to, bigger problems in the world
M Point
I could understand Wiley's point of view about Grime but I don't want him to give up!!
I agree that Grime isn't as good as it was 5 or 6 years ago when it was breaking from the 2 step era because now most Grime MCs try to outslew each other and sound like DipSet. Wiley has been unique from all of the other artists and is a great beatmaker!
gangsta's
Wiley, u spoke some gospel in the interview with cameo. You ripped apart his illusion of a vibrant scene and hit him with reality. Well done bruv, you earned the communities respect a long time ago. Good Luck with everything and take care.
N - A - T - T - Z
Willey is being a man at da end of da day
he needs concrete doe none ov da top man are working together 'u tell me wots da point' most grime is noise anway cuz london city take it for granted an so un creative on da u channel its embarrassing (cums like bollywood) wen u cum out to the smaller city's u'll find dey appreciate it more an put more effort in i fnk wiley shudnt go but he has to do wot he has to do standrd gwarn wiley do ure fing cuz!!!
JAY
i could not believe it wen my mate said wiley is quiting.. he,s right about grime being involed in to much beef .. there r to many plastic gangsters out there giving grime a bad name .loads of people love ukg but they dont like the front of to many idiots in the raves thinking there bad!! the grime sceen will miss wiley and his talent
Chezabella
Nah man wiley wots he doin! I get wot hes sayn but he wa lyk the starter of grime n he made it big.Hes got to carry dat on where we gona getdem beats from now! every1s got 2 step out the game at some tym but i still tink its his tym grimes gettn big n hes not gona b der wen it blows up. its lyk a death in the business!
Ricky Rankin
You people arent realising Wiley has put 7 years of his life into this and got barely enough to pay the bills and feed his daughter in return.
Anytime an event that could put grime on the map arrives some waste yoots that either arent on the line up or wernt invited decide that if they dont get to perform, nobody is and cause some pointless beef, ending the event, meaning everybody has to be refunded and the artists dont make a penny, they end up losing money.
Blame RSG's, blame Nasty, blame all the people that have caused beef at grime events, all the "artists" that think the only thing left to do when things dont go your way is get voilent to those who are making moves and getting heard out there.
rayne
wiley has the potential to go global, nuttin comes to u, u gotta go get it, put in some more years, keep workin hard and keep the faith, thats what the greats did, its jus bou payin bills or a vocation, its a lifestyle, you gta live, breath eat n sleep the music. dont start beef -wont be no beef, be real, n jus do it. thing is gunna get blown outta proportion-but mayb thats what he watns-evri1 chatin his name? who knows, no doubt he got talent, da rest is on him
EL
Grime music is being held back by its lack of availability in highstreet stores and mainstream legal download sites. This means lots of the great music Wiley and others produce is illegally downloaded by thousands and they lose money. They need to make Grime available in every town and city in Britain cos it will sell!
LOUIS
WILEY IZ ON OF DA BEST MC IN DA GAME
Stillon Chang
Grime is getting more listeners, now is the wrong time to quit, at least do something for grime music like what Da vinche is doing, but if one wants to quit why hold them back, Maybe he will do a Jay Z , or publicty stunt, Grime will be taking over and Wiley may just be left back
Daniella
Is he doing a Jay-Z or what? I don't believe for a minute he's going to retire. He's too young and hasn't achieved even a fraction of the success (or money!) that would give him a comfortable 'retirement'. Come on...stop the shameless hype William, and get back in the studio!
isaac
grime has been made by people like you, people dat dont stop makin their music coz of people dat strt trouble coz they aint movin. you and da rest of pay as-you-go sculptured grime in to wot it is to day. and tru point grime doesnt pay the bills, but do u fink hip hop did when it was first founderd? it takes work, you put in allot of work, i no dat, u an rolldeep, its time dat people stop sellin out da second u get famous. be honest shake a leg wasnt bad but it wasnt ur music. it was music u fort people wanted to hear, that dissapointed people. u got big making real grime... get bigger!!!
r.renegade
nah man guy was just gettin big agen wid da tunnel vision mixtapes- will b missed dnt fink grime will b da same
Artic
Seems like wiley is sayin that grime aint goin nowhere. If grime is really guna blow then why is he retiring, you tryin to tell us something wiley? Also I think he should wait on the outcome of 'Playtime is over' b4 retiring.
Nisha
Wiley has done well and respect to him for pursuing his dreams and making a name and success for himself. UK G is big but sorry to say its never gunna be a bigger than the other genres and will never get the kind of recognition it wants.
UKG has been associated with gang, gun and street violence. This culture of asbo's and rude boys who will pick a knife or a gun quicker than they can pick up a book just for respect is pathetic! Wiley is getting out while he can even he can stand up and say i'd rather live than die for this...simple and smart!
Adele G
One more thing - major record labels aren't "really saying much" on the grime scene because grime itself isn't saying much. And everyone's got a lot to say about nothing. The moment someone has a message - one that has real meaning - is the moment the major record labels will respond to what they're hearing.
bobby_dig
Wiley is the most innovative and talented artist of the new millenium.
his combination of rhythm, flow, lyrics, entrprenourism and humour has made the grime scene and thats why he has attracted so many copycats who have to rely on beef and battling for publicity.
he's got it right when he says he needs to spread the right message so he should keep working and use his talent and years spent earning his name for good.
its a classic case of him being too good and on too much of a high level that people are just pulling him down. It shows how there is too much hate in the scene.
he shouldn't retire he just needs to move on again and rise above the current sub standards.
wiley aint done
attilio
i dont tink u should retire,u have talent use it in otha ways man,my opinions is that grime started of as the new cool thing but now every time i got to some sort of live event[leeds carneval, huddersfiled carneval] n open mic nites tha people that get on tha mic n spit grime r always some likkle wanna be gangsa kid n is crew of like 20! to me youre 1 of the 1st trend setters in grime ya set tha standars so to speak, but now at the end of tha day i bet u didnt tink grime would end up like it is 2day n thats y u woke up 1 day n thought..hang on!! yall mean!!?
U a mc u write ya how shit u perform u got talent, jus cos grime aint paing ya bills or isn't satisfing u any more dosnt meen u afto quit or retire....tha sky is tha limit...1love
Adele G
I support Wiley when he says the grime scene is dangerous, but what annoys me is that most 'emcees' are talking about negative stuff in their tracks just because everyone else is, and they don't always fully understand the meaning of what they're saying. Wiley's in a great position to change that - he's already stood up and said 'You know what, the way grime is going is not good', now all he has to do it run with that message - put it in his own tracks, change the scene - shake of the 'dirt' that's associated with grime as it is now... the last thing he should do it walk away from it and us, the listeners.
